Travis Rice

Travis Rice -

Talk about progression. Talk about motivation. Talk about event organizers. Talk about Pro Snowboarders. Talk about Travis Rice.

Travis is one of the most innovative and progressive snowboarders in the world. This winter alone he organized, hosted and won The Quiksilver Natural Selection contest. This contest was the first of its kind and truly unique for both riders and spectators. Along side his contest planning Travis has been filming for his video titled “Thats It Thats All” which will be a different perspective movie about Travis and the athletes he tends to work with.

Johan Olofsson Snowboarder

Johan Olofsson Snowboarder -

Johan Olofsson Snowboarder - I still remember the first time I saw Johan Olofsson in the winter of ‘92 at Tignes (France) in a summer camp. He was shredding with Sebu Kuhlberg (Damn is almost 17 years ago, way before Chad Muska, Ghetto Blaster or Tom Penny front flips in USA). Johan literally DESTROY the whole park, riding switch at that time. Johan Olofsson, Sebu kuhlberg and John Sommers made my day. This was before Johan Olofsson was focusing more on back country and filming the best big mountain part in the Standard Films classic TB5. After an 8 year contract with Burton Snowboards the injuries came and Johan Olofsson stayed away from the scene. This last year however, after a full recovery, he is filming again for the Hachets and their Totally Board series in interior BC.

He is one of the best Snowboarders to watch and I think anyone could agree that he is one of the best big mountain snowboarders in the world. Check out his footage from Standard Films.

Jake Blauvelt Update

Jake Blauvelt Update -

Jake Blauvelt is a kid from Vermont. He is so good at snowboarding that he turned pro. Now its not just his life, its his job, too. He is an exemplary young man, with great balance. I have been riding (and following snowboarding) for 20 years, and over all these years I have had a few favorite riders. Farmer, Campos, KJ, Huffman, Rüf and now Jake, positively. Now that I write them down, I wonder what link they share, since they are all such different cats. Anyway, Jake rules, so I got him to do an interview, too. Read a little about him.

Pics from the Storm -

Mammoth Mountain got snow! After days of storms the skies broke to let in some sunlight to take a few pictures. It was very cold and windy but our friend Eric took his gloves off to hit the shutter button a few times. Now it is snowing again.
