Fresh snow, amped crew in the lead up to Mt Hutt opening A southerly storm has dropped 25 – 30 centimetres of fresh snow on the slopes of Mt Hutt in the lead up to the ski area’s Saturday June 14 opening. Ski Area Manager Dave Wilson says the wintry blast has transformed Mt Hutt, Methven and surrounding areas into a winter wonderland. “Looking out from our high country ski area onto the plains below is just awesome. We’ve got a good 25 + cms dumped on an existing 30cm base which looks good for opening from the summit on day 1.”

Record Winter Snowfall Allows Aspen/Snowmass to Open the Top of Aspen Mountain for a Summer Ski Experience Aspen/Snowmass, CO., June 9, 2008 – Aspen Skiing Company announced today that it will open the top of Aspen Mountain for skiing this weekend, June 13-15, 2008. Record winter snowfall has left the top of the mountain covered in snow as the traditional summer operating season begins. With an average depth of more than three feet on upper slopes, the mountain will open with seven runs and about 45 acres of mostly intermediate terrain, served by the Ajax Express chairlift.

On Monday, snowboardREVOLUTION went to the World Quarterpipe Championships in Southern Vermont. World Quarters 2008. Shit. I feel like I should have a drink in my hand just typing this. Good thing I just made another. After 4 years of hibernation, sort of like the Olympics but way better, the World Quarterpipe Championships has come back in a new spot with a new crowd but the same attitude. Let's have a contest, get really drunk, and all have the best time possible. There might not have been a Rolex given out for any thirty-foot airs but the amount of free beer and whiskey made up for that. -Joe Carter
