Description:

Some 90% of the Platinum B9 wetsuit's external and internal fabrics (called the 'B9 Flex' and 'B9 Thermal Flex' respectively) are made from returned polyester products such as old fishing nets and clothing.
The balance 10% of the Platinum B9 fabric is a unique spandex fabric knitted in a way that allows the recycled polyester to move and stretch. Combined with an Airlite limestone-based foam core, the suit maintains superior flexibility, function and durability. The Platinum B9 also includes water-based inks to further reduce its effect on the environment.
Looking at all the environmental options was important to the development of the Platinum B9. Natural fibers such as wool and harvested bi-products such as Sorona from corn, hemp and bamboo were all considered. But it was the use of landfill materials and the significant reduction in energy to produce the end product that tipped the scales in favor of using recycled polyester.
The process of recycling the polyester is done using the most technologically advanced method available. It is estimated the whole production process for the Platinum B9 consumes 80% less energy and produces 80% less carbon dioxide emissions than a regular suit.
